Effective Heartburn Relief
For people who suffer from heartburn, finding effective heartburn relief can
be very important. Heartburn can be incredibly irritating even in small degrees
and there are many remedies available, both natural and medicated. For a small
amount of heartburn, many people swear by drinking milk. Heartburn relief in the
form of milk can be effective and drinking a small amount of milk regularly over
a period of time can start to heal the effects of heartburn as it washes acid
back into the stomach.Heartburn relief can also be achieved by ingesting antacids and heartburn
medication. Over the counter medications such as antacids and acid inhibitors
can provide effective heartburn relief. They are generally safe remedies when
used occasionally but it is preferable to use antacids if they work for you as
they are milder than acid inhibitors and normally lead to fewer side affects.
For people who do not find that these methods of heartburn relief work, or if
they suffer from constant or severe heartburn, it is necessary to consult a
doctor for more powerful heartburn relief that is available by prescription.
If heartburn is a constant aggravation for you, then it may be necessary to
address the issues that are causing heartburn in the first place instead of
relying on heartburn relief methods. Rather than relying on medication to solve
the problems it can be better to counteract the effects of heartburn before they
have a chance to begin. Heartburn can be caused by eating overly large meals and
by lying down after eating. Certain activities that put pressure on the abdomen
can also cause heartburn. If this is the case then taking a few simple steps can
provide heartburn relief or else negate the effects of heartburn entirely.
Simply eating smaller but more frequent meals, abstaining from food directly
before bedtime and avoiding lifting and bending shortly after eating can all
provide effective heartburn relief solutions.
If heartburn is due to pregnancy, then there is not a lot that can be done
medically for the woman, drinking milk is probably her best option. Heartburn
can often occur during pregnancy even if the person has never suffered from
heartburn before and this is because of the increasing pressure from the weight
of the baby on the stomach. Because prescription medicine is out of the
question, the mother to be should consult a doctor on the best course to take as
not all over the counter antacids are safe methods of heartburn relief during
pregnancy.
Absorbable antacids tend to be okay and should provide some heartburn relief
because it neutralizes the stomach acids and is safe for frequent use. They tend
to be calcium based and do not affect calcium absorption in the body which is
extremely important for pregnant women. Regardless of this, milk is still the
safest form of heartburn relief for a pregnant woman.
